MRU and JIU received an opening remark by his excellency, Tetsu OZAKI, Ambassador of Japan to Lithuania.
 


Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) (Vilnius, Lithuania) and Graduate School of International Administration (GSIA), Josai International University (JIU) (Tokyo Kioicho, Japan), together distributed a Multi-Disciplinary Seminar on Contemporary Japan live on YouTube.

On November 16th, 2022 (JST), about 30 undergraduate and graduate students of MRU joined this seminar onsite, and more than 30 participants joined online on YouTube live streaming.

This inter-university seminar started with greetings by Prof. Dr. Inga ?AL?NIEN?, Rector of MRU, followed by two opening remarks by Tetsu OZAKI, Ambassador of Japan to Lithuania and by Audrius BR?ZGA, director, Department of Latin America, Africa, Asia and Pacific Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.

Our president, Kenji SUGIBAYASHI, closed the opening ceremony through his video message, with a brief introduction of GSIA by Goro KOMATSU, an associate professor in GSIA.

After the opening ceremony, our professor Shigeru MATSUMOTO opened up the seminar by discussing sustainability in business. Then our associate professor Shinichi ISHII followed his talk to further discuss a history of Japanese economic growth along with transport infrastructure developments.

Following the discussion on business and Japan, we then streamed live two videos on contemporary issues in Japan¨s tourism industry by our two associate professors. After Takekuni KUROSAWA shared Japan¨s recent trends in tourism, some issues in MICE business in time of Covid-19 pandemic was addressed by Hidekazu IWAMOTO.

The final part consists of three presentations on society and economy. After Goro KOMATSU raised some problems for policy makers to address secular stagnation in Japan, a professor Toake ENDOH, Dean of GSIA, discussed critical issues in immigration and social integration in Japan. The dicussion section is closed by Dr. Paulius Pakutinskas, Law School of MRU, on his presentation on Japan and Lithuania in the context of traditions, modernity and technologies.

Finally, Dr. Darius ?TITILIS, Dean, Faculty of Public Governance and Business, MRU, made his final final remarks for this successful inter-disciplinary event. The Dean closed the seminar by referring to our further collaborations between MRU and GSIA, again in the future.

The seminar was indeed a great success, and we owe it to all the collaborators who help making this online seminar happen.
